How does Flashiibo v2 differ from v1?
v2 has 5 slots instead of just 1. You can switch slots by short press or long press the button depending on which mode you are in.
v2 is set to manual mode by default.
Unlike v1, manual mode has permanent memory. So you no longer need to keep the Bluetooth connection in order to use it for games like Super Smash Bros or Splatoon.
Auto mode doesn't actually generate tag UID automatically upon scanning. Instead, it swaps the function of short press and long press. Basically in auto mode, regenerating UID is made more convenient. See "Interaction Guide" below.
v2 firmware is upgradable. See Firmware Update. Please note that v1 devices cannot be upgraded to v2 firmware for technical reasons.
v2 in general is more user friendly by giving more interaction feedback through its lights and buzzer. We've built an intuitive and easy interaction experience despite the extremely limited ways of input and output on the device.
What apps are recommended to write amiibo data into Flashiibo?
On Android, we have an official app named Flashiibo Companion available in the Play Store.
On iOS, we recommend an app named Tagmiibo.
Can I use apps other than the recommended ones?
Yes. The Flashiibo is mostly NFC 215, so it is possible that some other apps capable of writing amiibos to NFC 215 tags will work too.
Why doesn't my Flashiibo beep when I press the button?
The most likely reason is that it's out of battery. Even though we tested every device before shipping, the battery could go out during shipping or not long after delivery.
[Fob] Please try a brand new CR2032 battery. See the user manual for how to take the battery out.
[Recharge] Please try to charge Flashiibo for 3 minutes and try again.
Can I scan more than once per day in Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild?
Yes. Every time you press the Flashiibo button, it generates a new serial number. That means it behaves like a complete new blank NFC 215 tag. You can write amiibo data to it again and the games will treat it as an amiibo it has never seen before.
What should I do if writing to Flashiibo fails?
Check the following
Load a different amiibo, press the Flashiibo button, and try again.
Make sure the logo of Flashiibo is facing the back of your phone.
Move the Flashiibo around the back of the phone to find a sweet spot.
If the "File picker" option of Flashiibo Companion app was used to upload the data, please try the "Online drive" option instead.
Perform a factory reset and try again. Factory reset is available under Bluetooth management (Flashiibo Companion: "Manage device over Bluetooth"; Tagmiibo: Settings => Manage Bluetooth Devices.)
[Fob only] If that didn't solve the problem, you can take out the battery for 15 seconds and put the battery back in. And then try the steps above. See the user manual for how to take the battery out.
[Fob only] The last thing to try is to install a completely new CR2032 coin battery.
If the issue remains after trying the above steps, please send us an email at support@flashiibo.com, or reach out to the community on Discord for help.
What should I do if my Switch fails to recognize Flashiibo?
Check the following
Make sure amiibo feature in your game is unlocked and ACTIVATED (especially BOTW & TOTK). See this guide for more.
We highly recommend using the Joy-Cons plugged into to the switch.
If you are using the controller(s) wirelessly, make sure it's fully charged and connected.
Make sure the logo of Flashiibo is facing and aligned the Joy-Con's right analog stick, or the middle of the Pro Controller.
Remove button grips (grip caps) from right Joy-Con stick if any.
If the "File picker" option of Flashiibo Companion app was used to upload the data, please try the "Online drive" option instead.
Try make an amiibo of a different character, press the Flashiibo button, and try it on Switch again.
Perform a factory reset, send data and try again.

What should I do to make my Flashiibo work in Splatoon or Super Smash Bros?
Nothing. Flashiibo v2 comes with perfect support for Splatoon and Super Smash Bros out of the box.
What should I do if I see an error like "This is not the amiibo you scanned before"?
The game you are playing requires the same identical amiibo to be scanned more than once. Please make sure you don't accidentally generate a new Tag UID. We recommend NOT switching to auto mode for games like Splatoon or Super Smash Bros.
What should I do if I see "This amiibo can't be used again today" in Tears of the Kingdom or Breath of the Wild?
When that happens, try the following things in order.
The first thing to do is to long press for 1.5 seconds the Flashiibo button and try again.
If that still doesn't work, long press for 1.5 seconds the Flashiibo button, use the app to make an amiibo with a different character of The Legend of Zelda, then try it on Switch again.
[Fob only] If that didn't solve the problem, you can take out the battery for 15 seconds and put the battery back in. And then try the steps above. See the user manual for how to take the battery out.
[Fob only] The last thing to try is to install a completely new CR2032 battery.
If none of that works, you can send us an email at support@flashiibo.com, or reach out to the community on Discord for help.
