You will find a single button on the device. If you press it, you should see a blinking blue light blue on the same side as the button. The blinking light indicates the device is functional.
About Fob & Recharge v2
Fob and Recharge v2 has improved user experiences, supporting permanently saving up to 5 tags. The firmware is upgradable and we are continuously improving it.
How does v2 from v1?
v2 has 5 slots instead of just 1. You can switch slots by short press or long press the button depending on which mode you are in.
v2 is set to manual mode by default.
Unlike v1, manual mode has permanent memory. So you no longer need to keep the Bluetooth connection in order to use it for games like Super Smash Bros or Splatoon.
Auto mode doesn't actually generate tag UID automatically upon scanning. Instead, it swaps the function of short press and long press. Basically in auto mode, regenerating UID is made more convenient. See "Interaction Guide" below.
v2 firmware is upgradable. See Firmware Update. Unfortunately, v1 devices cannot be upgraded to v2 firmware for technical reasons.
v2 in general is more user friendly by giving more interaction feedback through its lights and buzzer. We've built an intuitive and easy interaction experience despite the extremely limited ways of input and output on the device.
Interaction Guide
Manual Mode (Default, Versatile, Highly Recommended)
Manual mode comes by default.
In manual mode, the device starts with a 4 note tune that's different from auto mode.
Short press the button to move to the next slot (out of 5 rotating slots). Each slot is marked by 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 beeps, depending on which slot you land on.
Long press, for 1.5 seconds, to manually regenerate the tag UID for the same slots. The tag UID gets replaced, the amiibo character stays the same. The relatively long 1.5 second is to prevent accidental UID overwrite, making it a great choice for players of Super Smash Bros and Splatoon, which require a stable tag UID.
Extended long press, for 7 seconds total, to enter DFU mode.
Auto Mode (Optimized for BOTW & TOTK)
Auto mode can only be enabled through bluetooth. See "Changing modes" section below.
In auto mode, the device starts with a 4 note tune that's different from manual mode.
Short press the button to quickly regenerate the tag UID for the same slots. The tag UID gets replaced, the amiibo character stays the same. This is a good choice if your primary game is Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom, where quick UID refresh is a priority. This mode not ideal for Super Smash Bros or Splatoon, because you can very easily overwrite the UID by accident.
Long press, for 1.5 seconds, to move to the next slot (out of 5 rotating slots). Each slot is marked by 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 beeps, depending on which slot you land on.
Extended press, for 7 seconds total, to enter DFU mode.
Making amiibos
To use Flashiibo as amiibos, you will need a mobile app to write the amiibo data into it. You can find the data here.
Using iPhone
Download iOS app Tagmiibo
Follow this video tutorial of how to use Tagmiibo to make amiibos on iOS.
NTAG215 tags were used in this tutorial. In our case, use Flashiibo instead of the NTAG215 tags.
Make sure the button side of Flashiibo is facing the phone.
Remove the phone case if your phone has trouble reading or writing Flashiibo.
Other than that, the tutorial should work exactly the same way.
If you want to move on to the next slot and create a new amiibo, just short press the button in manual mode, or long press for 1.5 seconds in auto mode.
If you want a new UID for the same amiibo character, just long press for 1.5 seconds in manual mode, or simply short press the button in auto mode.

Replacing the battery (Fob)
Flashiibo uses CR2032 coin batteries. To replace it, you need to open the battery cover. To open the battery cover, follow the following instructions.
Hold Flashiibo with two hands, button side facing away from you
Use two thumbs to press again the edges of the battery cover
Turn the cover counter-clockwise.
Then gently pry it open.
Take the old battery out and put in a new CR2032 battery. The plus/positive side of the battery should be facing yourself. Put the battery cover back by turning it clockwise the same way how you opened the cover. Make sure the dot on the cover is aligned with the dots on the back of Flashiibo.
